Lois Hanslit

It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Margaret Hanslit announces her passing after a brief illness, on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at the age of 78 years.

Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children, Barry (Janet) Hanslit of Whistler, BC and Brian (Jacquie) Hanslit of Atlin, BC. Left to cherish her memory are also her five grandchildren: Breanna, Hunter, Hailey, Rainer and Eiger as well as her sister Janet (Jack) Breedon of Gladstone and her brother Gerald (Pat) Adams of Portage La Prairie as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Lois is predeceased by her husband Arthur Hanslit & brother Jack Adams.

Lois was born Sept. 4th, 1940 in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. She spent her childhood on a farm just outside of Portage. Lois was married in 1959 to Arthur Hanslit and has lived in Portage La Prairie ever since. Lois was an avid knitter. Always willing to make a pair of mittens to fit anyone, even the largest hands. Her garden was always something she looked forward to grow, and her jam was something her children looked forward to receive. She cared deeply for her children and grandchildren always making time to visit or call. Lois was never afraid to try things on her own. Her unique world view will be greatly missed.

A Funeral Service in memory of Lois will be held on Friday, August 16 at 9:00 a.m. at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd S, Portage la Prairie, with Rev. Marg Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
