We regret to announce the passing of Lois Hawker on June 1, 2022 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 79 years.
Lois will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lara Hawker of Calgary, AB, grandsons Brodie and Dylan (Nikki) Hawker and great- grandson Kayden Hawker, all of Oakville, MB, sister Betty Anne Gillespie of Surrey, BC, brother Kevin (Colette) Gillespie of Prince George, BC and sister-in-law Shirleen Henry of Portage la Prairie, MB as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Lois was predeceased by her parents John and Lillian Gillespie, husband Fred Hawker, son Rodney Hawker and brother Ron Gillespie.
Lois loved her community, and belonged to many organizations over the years. When the children were young, she was involved in 4-H and figure skating, and when they were grown she enjoyed spending time helping out at Silver Threads, the Oakville Curling Club and with the Oakville Community Club.
Lois had a love for baking, and she shared that with her children and grandchildren. Her baking, especially her buns and cinnamon buns, she shared her love of baking with all who knew her.
A gathering to celebrate the lives of both Lois and her son Rodney will be announced at a later date.
