Louise Ferg

Alice Louise Ferg (nee Clark) passed away peacefully with family members by her side on July 12, 2025, at the age of 96.

Louise was born and raised in Deloraine, Manitoba. She began her career with the Royal Bank in Brandon, where she met her husband, Patrick. She supported Pat through law school at the U of M. The two settled in Flin Flon, where Pat practiced law with his brother Lorne, and Louise lovingly raised their children Allison, Michael and John. Both families were close and enjoyed spending summers at Denare Beach. They moved to Portage la Prairie in 1974 when Pat became a judge. Louise returned to work at the Royal Bank until her retirement.

In her retirement, Louise lived in Victoria, B.C. for twelve years, where she played a cherished role in helping raise her grandchildren, Hannah and Adrian. In 2001, she returned to Portage to help care for her son John's children, Megan and Brandon.

Louise was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Allison (Ross), son John (Melanie), and their families: Hannah, Adrian, Megan, Brandon, Tiffany (great grandchildren Payton and Brayden) and Mike’s sons Riley and Connor. She was predeceased by her parents Ed and Doris Clark; sister Barbara “Babs”, son Michael and former husband Patrick.

Louise enjoyed crafts, gardening, flower arranging and caring for others. Louise loved to bake for every occasion. Louise had impeccable taste and took great joy in decorating her surroundings. Louise lived independently in her home on La Verendrye Crescent until the age of 93, and enjoyed her later years at Dufferin Villa. Her family is deeply grateful for the kindness and care she received at the St. Claude Pavilion Transitional Care Unit in the final months of her life.

As per her wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Central Plains Cancer Services.
