Louise McManus (nee Russell formerly Palmer)

It is with great sadness that we announce that (Lillian) Louise McManus passed away at the Douglas Campbell Lodge in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the age of 92.

Louise was predeceased by her husband Robert E. McManus. She was the last survivor of 10 brothers and sisters.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children: John (Karen) Palmer, Susan Palmer, Tim (Jacquie) Palmer, and Thomas Palmer (Tomoko Hirano). As much as possible mom followed, with keen interest, the lives of her 7 grandchildren: Megan, Whitney, Jennifer, Arlene, Jonathan, Deanna, David as well as her 13 great-grandchildren. The many nieces and nephews have fond memories of Aunt Louise.

Louise McManus (nee Russell, formerly Palmer) was born near Viscount, Saskatchewan. She lived in many communities, mostly in Saskatchewan including Regina, Weyburn and Estevan. Wherever she lived, mom engaged in church and community. Once Rob retired, they made their home in Portage la Prairie. Mom enjoyed many friendships with the church, at Windsor Estates, and then Douglas Campbell Lodge.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 24th, 2026, at Trinity United Church in Portage la Prairie at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the auditorium room. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed by registering at the link below.

As an expression of sympathy, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise's memory to Trinity United Church in Portage la Prairie.
