On August 15, 2026, Lyall Scarr passed away after many months in St. Boniface hospital at the age of 74 years.
Lyall is survived by his wife Patricia; children Diane, Angie (Dale), Jim (Kristen), and Christopher and their families.
Lyall was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Irene, brother Lloyd, and sister Sandra.
After 50 years, he found the love of his life Patricia, and they were married on November 29, 2024, and went on a honeymoon cruise that year.
Lyall had worked for Malron Ambulance, played ball in his younger years, was in army cadets, and was an umpire for many years. He moved out west and worked on the oil rigs as a fire fighter and eventually retired from Western Sterling in Edmonton. Lyall’s love of music was extraordinary along with the love of dancing. He loved playing crib, and when watching hockey and the ball games he was in his glory.
Due to diabetic complications, he had his leg amputated in 2023 and never fully recovered from that surgery, kidneys failing and some heart issues, and finally having dialysis. His body just gave out, and he is not in any more pain.
As Lyall is being cremated and his ashes spread over the mountains, there will be no formal service.
A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com
