Listen to Obituary

With sadness we announce the passing of Manuela “Manu” Trandafir on July 15, 2026 at Health Science centre at the age of 54 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Petrica Trandafir, daughter Patri (Quinn) MacDonald (Trandafir), mother Rosalia Barna of Arad Romania, sister Luminita (Mircia) Trendler of Arad Romania; along with the Trandafir family here locally and overseas, MacDonald family, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents-in-law Tinca and Marin Trandafir, sisters-in-law Eugenia Trandafir and Maria Teodorascu and brother-in-law Radu Munteanu.

Manu Trandafir was born October 16, 1971 in Arad, Romania. She spent her years growing up with her older sister, Lumi. In 1997 she met Petrica, her husband. They got married in 1998 and a year later they had their beautiful daughter Patri. Throughout the early 2000s Manu moved to different parts of Romania to support Petrica in his career. In 2009 they decided to move across the world to Portage la Prairie Manitoba Canada. Once here she quickly made it her mission to learn English to be able to communicate with others. She always had time to catch up with family, friends, coworkers or acquaintances, she was our social butterfly. She loved to be around others, be goofy, silly and make people laugh. But one of her greatest joys in life was her daughter, Patri. They were inseparable, and had a special connection that grew stronger as time went on. If you invited her over, she would show up with food, enough to feed everyone there and send home leftovers. As Patri brought friends home, she quickly took them in and treated them as her own kids. When Quinn started coming around more, she took to him very quick and soon started seeing him as her own son. When she wasn’t working you could find her at home cooking, decluttering, or on her way to Winnipeg with either Petre or Patri. She was always happy to plan out the trip, and make sure they stuck to it. You would find her shopping at Costco, Ikea, La Grotta/Delucas or getting some sushi or chinese food. Manu always took care of everyone around her, from spending time talking with coworkers to making you her homemade fries, minutes after you stopped in for a visit.
