It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marion Phyllis McNee (née Migas) on April 19, 2026, at the Portage District General Hospital, at the age of 84 years.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her children Colleen & Chris Perry, Lee & Carol McNee, Charlene & Stewart Richard; grandchildren Kaylee, Tyler, Jayson, Terri & James, Kenneth; great-granddaughter Clara; sisters Marge Ewanyshyn and Olga Stevenson; brother Pat & Brenda Migas; in-laws Norman McNee, John & Darlene McNee, George McNee, Darlene McNee; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends who were considered family.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Arnie McNee; her parents Pearl & Peter Migas; parents-in-law Elaine & Cecil McNee; sister Patricia Groleau; in-laws Dorothy & Ed Vincent, Rhonda McNee, Roy Stevenson, Bob McNee, Tom McNee, Denis McNee; and great-granddaughter Marion Richard.
Mom was born on September 1, 1941. She lived a life marked by love, kindness, strength, and devotion to her family. She will be remembered for her warm heart, gentle spirit, and the care she showed to those around her. She was raised helping on the family farm in Oakburn, Manitoba. She later joined the Royal Canadian Air Force, where she proudly served as a Fighter Control Operator. While stationed in Clinton, she met her love and life partner, Arnie. They married in 1961 and became husband and wife, never looking back.
Mom became a devoted full-time homemaker, creating a warm and loving home for her family. Over the years, they lived in many places across Canada before settling on their acreage in High Bluff, Manitoba, where they enjoyed retirement together. Mom loved spending time in her yard and garden, where she could often be found tending to her flower beds. Harvest season was always special, as she busied herself canning and pickling.
When not at the acreage, Mom and Dad loved camping with the Yellowquill Good Sam Camping Club and spending winters as snowbirds in Arizona. She also enjoyed traveling, especially when it meant visiting family and friends.
Family meant everything to Mom. Once you became her friend, you became family. Her greatest joy was becoming a Baba. She lovingly shared her skills of gardening, canning, pickling, and her love of BINGO with her grandchildren.
Marion was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion, where she could often be found at Branch #65 enjoying Friday meat draws, Monday bingos, and the occasional pub crawl.
She leaves a giant hole in our hearts, but we find comfort knowing she is dancing with Dad once again.
Donations in memory of Marion may be made to Sunset Palliative Care, Box 92, Prairie la Prairie, MB, R1N 3B2 or to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #65, 275 Duke Avenue, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0S5.
