With profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Mary Fuller on Monday, March 15, 2021 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, at the age of 90 years.
Left behind to cherish the memories of our Mom, Granma and Gigi are her girls Shelley Spearing and Tammy (Ken) Pond, grandchildren Jen and Randy Spearing, Laura (Geoff) Green and Brad Pond (Kari), as well as her five ‘greats’ Brittney, Caity, Blake, Ashton and Adler.
She was Aunt Mimi to Lynne, Wade and Cathy.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Florence Hewitson and her sister and brother-in-law Kay and Scot McMurrich.
Mom’s journey started in the North Norfolk area on December 18, 1930. Her sister, Kay, came along soon after, and the family resided on the farm, Northwest of Portage. Mom graduated from PCI and went on to Winnipeg to attend Business School, graduating as a certified Bookkeeper. After Shell and Tam came along, she was happy to stay home looking after her family.
Once settled in Portage, with the girls in school, her career as a bookkeeper started with R.B. Earland then continued on at Christianson and Christianson. There she spent many happy years, working among people she cared for until she retired.
To know her was to love her. Mom was such a kind hearted, patient (After two cups of coffee!) stubborn soul, with a great sense of humor. She lived well, laughed lots and had an absolute unconditional love for her family. She loved all family gatherings, many of which took place at ‘The Lake’ with many games of Sorry and different card games. We loved her cooking and baking. Mom was very gifted at sewing, knitting and loved crocheting.
Granma, Gigi attended everything from school, plays, concerts, award and graduation ceremonies. Anything to do with the kids.
She loved sports, with her Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Jets being her number ones! Mom could often be heard yelling at the TV during Bomber games! She enjoyed figure skating, which she made quite clear was a sport (Ken!) and harness racing with her BFF’s Rae and Clara.
Mom loved black coffee (mud), pepper on everything, reading, music, everything Star Trek, Big Bang Theory, Hummingbirds, and last but not least, M&M’s.
The family would like to give a special thank you to “Her Homecare Girls” for all the compassion and love you gave her. Mom was very grateful for each and every one of you.
To the staff at DCL, we thank you for the compassionate care Mom received. Shelly and Tammy would like to thank you for all your kindness and support.
A family gathering to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at a later date.
Love you Mommy ♥Love Shell Love you bunches Maw ♥Love Tam
