Mary "Vera" Matheson

(nee Lamirande)

With family by her side Vera Matheson passed away on Monday, March 1, 2010, in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 62 years.

She was predeceased by her father Leo Lamirande and brother-in-law Robert Logan. Vera will be lovingly remembered by her husband Ted of Portage la Prairie; mother Ida Lamirande of Portage la Prairie; children Angie (Brad) Rintoul of Calgary, Larry (Tracy) Oliver of Winnipeg, Tracey (Kevin) Davis of Calgary, Heather (Jason) Oliver of Portage la Prairie; grandchildren Stephanie, Tyler, Brayden, Grace and Bobby; siblings Barb Logan of Dauphin, Sandra (Jerry) Bruce of St. Laurent, Donald (Joanne) Lamirande of Winnipeg and many nieces and nephews.

Vera was born in Portage la Prairie. She lived throughout Central Manitoba, but made Portage her home for the last 24 years. Vera worked at MDC in dietary proudly achieving her Cook 2 and Food Service Training Certifications. She enjoyed sewing, going to garage sales, baking and camping. Vera loved to travel whether it was to Calgary to visit her children or day trips throughout Manitoba. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who had a quick wit, a great sense of humor, a strong will and a determination to fight. Vera enjoyed antiques and collectibles and was a member of the Depression Glass Club.

Funeral Service will take place on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church. Interment will take place at a later date at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
