Myrna Lynn Heppner

February 11, 1961 — December 12, 2025

Peacefully, on Friday, December 11, 2025, Myrna passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre, with her sister Joanne at her side. She was 64 years old.

Myrna was predeceased by her father, Art; her mother, Kathleen; and her brother, Duane. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Joanne Heppner of Portage la Prairie, MB, her sister Cheryl Heppner of Brandon, MB, and her special friend Sharon Rennie of Portage la Prairie, MB. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles, and cousins, along with the caregivers who made a loving home for her.

Myrna was born on February 11, 1961, in Morden, the youngest of 4 children. She attended Oak Haven School. After schooling she worked at Valley Rehab in Winkler. In 1982 Myrna moved to Brandon with her family. She embraced the move and worked at COR Enterprises while continuing to live at home. Myrna enjoyed a fulfilling life with her family followed by a positive move to Manitoba Developmental Centre where she became part of another community. With the closure of MDC Myrna readily took the opportunity to live with her sister Cheryl for several years, then at Westman House until her passing, under the Brandon Community Options umbrella.

Myrna was a force to be reckoned with, a social butterfly! She loved life and lived ‘in the moment’. One of her many passions was spending many summers as a camper at Sherwood Forest Camp at Beausejour. The whole family was involved – Dad on the camp committee; Mom as the head cook; sister Joanne as a counsellor; and Duane and Cheryl also campers. Other camps she attended were at Clear Lake, and Camp Sandy Haven at St. Ambrose. They were the BEST of times!

Myrna loved Queen Elizabeth. She was fortunate to see her in person twice in real life. Myrna loved books. Her favourite magazines were Her Majesty and Reader’s Digest.

Myrna liked to be on the move, never sitting still for long. She always set a quick pace when going for a walk. It was like running the 100-yard dash!

Myrna was surrounded by music her whole life. This was evident in her total recall of all the lyrics and dialogue included in such musicals as The Sound of Music and Annie. She was known for her infectious laughter for her favourite comedy, Mrs. Doubtfire. She had a high soprano voice and people took note of this talent!

Myrna, we will miss you!

We are thankful to the caring staff at Westman House, and the staff on the palliative ward, A3, at the Assiniboine Centre.

A Celebration of Myrna’s Life will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, 36 2nd St. S.W., Portage la Prairie, MB. R1N 2A1 on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
