Nina Murray

Peacefully, with family by her side, our beloved Mother and Grandma passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Portage General Hospital at the age of 82 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Cindy (Jake) Kok, Jacquie (Casey) McCuaig and Ryan Murray; grandchildren Michelle and Travis McCuaig and many extended family and friends.  She was predeceased by her husband John Murray; sister Florence Zeibin; brothers Peter and Paul Remizoff and parents Peter and Anastasia Remizoff.

Nina was a leap year baby, born in Veregin, SK on Feb 29, 1936.  She grew up on the farm in Veregin, SK and after high school came to Portage la Prairie to take nursing at the Manitoba Developmental Centre.   Since Mom was squeamish her nursing career didn’t last long and she then found employment at Campbell Soup.  Mom and Dad were married in Portage on November 9, 1963.  Once the kids were all in school Mom went back to work at MDC on switch board and in the pharmacy department.

Mom and Dad enjoyed many years camping as a family, gardening and growing roses together. On their 25th Anniversary they went to BC and through the mountains together. Soon after her Grandchildren were born and her grand dogs came into her life, bringing many happy memories.

You will be missed dearly, loved always and never forgotten.

Viewing and visitation will take place at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 7:00pm to 8:00pm.

Private family interment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.  Family and friends are invited to a reception in the Trimble Room at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Monday March 19, 2018 from 2:00 - 4:00pm.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations in memory of Nina may be made to Central Plains Cancer Services 318 Saskatchewan Avenue E, Portage la Prairie, MB  R1N 0K8.
