Norbert Johannes Amend

With sadness we announce, Norbert Amend passed away on March 18, 2024 at his home at the age of 69 years. 

Norbert leaves behind his son Alexander Amend of Portage la Prairie; sister Claudia Amend of Germany, along with many relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his parents Karl and Felizitas Amend. 

Norbert was born February 3, 1955 in Anrath, j. Willich, Kreis Viersen, Germany. Norbert received his education in Germany and received his Journeymen Automotive Certificate in 1974. Before he came to Canada in 1989, he was a member of the Fire Brigade in Tonisvorst and Krefeld. Norbert worked at several different automotive dealerships before moving to Canada and started working at several automotive shops in Portage la Prairie until he started working for Verwey Farms in 1999. Dad enjoyed spending time with people and worked part time for Orion Security.  To dad working at Verwey Farms was working with family.  The last few years his health deteriorated, and he still continued to show up for work at 7:30am.

Dad also enjoyed fishing, both summer and winter. Norbert spent as much time as he could with Alexander and was often cheering him on from the sidelines at his sports games.  For those who knew dad, know that he loved to tell stories and dance. Dad also enjoyed watch Formula 1 racing and in his younger years he used to drive in Rally races, a place that taught him some of his driving skills. 

A private family service will take place at a later date.
