August 24, 1944 a�" January 20, 2010 It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of our brother Norman, on Wednesday, January 20, 2010.

Norman was predeceased by his father and mother, Thomas and Kathleen Muirhead and his brother Douglas Muirhead. Left to cherish his memory are his special friend Linda Collins; sister Heather (Don); brother Donald (Marj) and their children Richard, Erin, Kelly and Megan; niece Brenda; nephews Larry (Linda), Brian, Tim (Chris) and their families.

Norman was born and raised in Portage la Prairie. He graduated from Portage Collegiate Institute and attended Brandon University and Red River College, where he obtained an electronic engineering degree. He was then employed by the Federal Government in Ottawa working in communications and research.

During his childhood years, Norman enjoyed spending the summer at his grandmother's farm. He had a strong love for science and was known for always performing experiments and building his miniature rockets. He had a keen interest in astronomy and chess as well as hunting, fishing and curling. Norman was also very musical and played the piano, banjo and guitar. In later years he assisted in the instruction of ballroom dancing and enjoyed performing in competitions.

In keeping with Norman's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family interment will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Hillside Cemetery. A Reception for family and friends will take place at McKenzie United Church Auditorium, 85 11th Street NW at 12:00 noon on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Norman's memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba a�" Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1A7.
