Pamela Dawn Bernard (nee McNish)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Pamela “Pam” Bernard announces her sudden and unexpected passing at her home in rural Edwin, Manitoba, on July 25, 2026, at the age of 57.

Pam was born on April 22, 1969, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to Cameron and Beryl McNish. As the daughter of an RCMP officer, she spent much of her childhood moving from place to place, giving her the opportunity to experience many communities and create memories that would stay with her throughout her life.

In 2004, Pam married the love of her life, Richard "Richie" Bernard. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared appreciation for the quiet beauty of their rural home.

Pam will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Richard "Richie" Bernard; her beloved only child, Caitlyn (Ginter) Saindon, and her husband, Dylan Saindon; her mother, Beryl McNish; and by countless extended family members and dear friends whose lives were brighter because she was in them. She was predeceased by her father, Cameron "Cam" McNish.

To know Pam was to know someone with a heart as big as her personality. She had the gift to gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone, yet she also possessed the rare ability to truly listen. Funny, fiercely independent, stubborn when she needed to be, and endlessly loyal, Pam was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need. She never arrived empty-handed, often surprising those she loved with a thoughtful treat or small gift simply because it reminded her of them.

Pam found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved being outdoors, reading, watching movies, and expressing her creativity through countless artistic and crafting projects. She was happiest surrounded by nature, whether simply mowing the grass on the family property, or enjoying the peace and beauty of the outdoors.

Perhaps nothing reflected Pam's heart more than her love for animals. She never met a stray cat she didn't want to rescue, or an animal she wouldn't do everything in her power to help. Her eleven beloved cats were not just pets; they were her babies, each cherished and loved beyond measure. Her compassion for animals was simply an extension of the compassion she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her. If you stopped by for a visit, you were almost guaranteed to have a kitty climb onto your lap, and you could always count on leaving with one of Pam's big bear hugs.

Above all else, Pam loved fiercely and without hesitation. She devoted herself to caring for those around her, offering unwavering support and kindness throughout her life. Her greatest legacy was not what she did, but how she made people feel; heard, loved, and never forgotten. Her unconditional love, generosity, and unforgettable hugs left every person and every animal fortunate enough to know her feeling valued and cared for.

She ended every conversation with the words, "Love you and miss you." And if it was through text, she never missed adding 💋💕💞 to the end. Today, those words are ours to her.
