Paul Hard peacefully passed away March 15th, 2023, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba at the age of 54.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Alex Hard, former spouse Colleen Hall, sister Helen Riles, and brother-in-law Randy Riles, as well as his nephews Steven, Randall, and Kyle, and niece Ashley. He was predeceased by his parents, Raimo and Patricia Hard, as well as his beloved dog Diesel.
Paul proudly worked at Swiss Chalet for 24 years, where he ultimately became Kitchen Manager. While there, he made some great friends and memories. Those who worked with him remember him fondly as a funny, caring manager with a big heart. He also worked at CFB Trenton, CFB Shilo, and CBO in Southport, Manitoba.
Paul loved site seeing and was a very adventurous individual. He liked to spend his time at the beach in the summer and frequently went for walks along the Bell Park boardwalk in Sudbury. Paul played baseball and outdoor hockey as a goalie with his friends, who fondly referred to him as “Boots”. Paul enjoyed watching Star Wars, Star Trek, and war documentaries as he was deeply passionate about history. Paul also enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays as well as the Maple Leafs, as he was a hardcore fan of both teams.
Paul had an amazing sense of humour and always found a way to make someone smile or laugh when he entered the room as he could always find a way to insert a joke into a conversation. He loved spending time with his son Alex and his nephew Steven. Paul was proud of being Finnish and loved his heritage.
Paul taught and showed us all how to love and enjoy life and to be kind to one another no matter the circumstance. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family.
An honourable mention goes out to Jason and Doug Muckley and the CMHA for taking care of Paul Hard, and Paul enjoyed their company as well.
