Raymond "Ray" Gilbert Rose

October 21, 1940 — March 20, 2024

With sadness we announce the passing of Raymond “Ray” Rose on March 20, 2024 at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 83 years.

Ray will be lovingly remembered by his wife Deanne, children Kim (Cam) Large, Rick Rose and Kevin (Carrie) Rose, numerous grandchildren Kathryn (Shawn), Bryce (Allison), Gracie and Jenna; sister-in-law Anna pollock and brother-in-law Don Pollock; along with numerous relatives and friends.  Also left to mourn are his children from a previous marriage Rodney and Cathy and their families.  He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Esther Rose, brother-in-law Walter Pollock and sister-in-law Bonnie Pollock.

Ray was the youngest of 15 children and was born in Carman, MB.  Most of his childhood was spent in Sperling on the family farm.  Ray received his education in Sperling and Carman.  He worked at various jobs before being employed with Beaver Lumber as assistant manager in Portage.  He later became employed with the City of Portage la Prairie as manager of public works for 32 years.  After retiring he enjoyed gardening, his dogs Buddy and Chloe and daily outing for coffee with “The Boys”.  He was a loyal Montreal Canadiens fan.  Ray enjoyed golfing, curling and spending time with family as well as many friends.   Ray was well respected in the community and would help wherever possible and will be missed by all who knew him.

A private service will be held with the interment taking place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Columbarium at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Ray’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
