Peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026, Sarah Linda passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 49 years. Born May 5, 1976, she was the beloved daughter of Betty Ann (nee McLennan) Espenell (Kathy Horne) and the late Larry (Laurent) Espenell, an only child.
She leaves to mourn her passing her three daughters Sierra (Lance Daniels) Myran, Kaylin Myran and Autumn Myran; grandchildren Alistair Timony-Myran and Baby Daniels (due July 2026); her loyal dog Jersey; the father of her children Terry Myran; her chosen family Christina Overton, Wesley (Evelyn) Lake, Heather (Clint) Rae and Lisa Myran; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and friends; special niece Danika and nephews Declan and all the honourary children, nieces and nephews she welcomed into her home.
She was predeceased by her father Larry Espenell; father-in-law Terry Myran Sr.; grandparents John and Sarah McLennan and Henri and Fern Espenell; grandparents George and Daisy Myran; cousin Darryl; brother Gordon; friend Michelle Dickenson and niece Jocelyn Myran.
Sarah was a proud Metis, great granddaughter of Patrice Gladu and Virginie Hogue. Sarah attended Ecole Prince Charles School and graduating from Portage Christian Academy. She also attended Robertson College, University of Manitoba Nursing Certificate. She worked for the Southern Health Home Care Program, Portage la Prairie region for many years. She was an automotive detailer and local body shops and worked with her father Larry in auto repairing and painting, specializing in custom work.
She enjoyed working on fast Ford cars, restoring a 1968 Mustang, fishing, hunting, Metis beading and custom work like sports emblems and crafting.
The family would like to thank CancerCare MB, the Health Science Center, Notre Dame de Lourdes Hospital, the Portage and District Hospital and all her loving caretakers over the course of her battle with a special thank you to Tannis for being Sarah’s travelling companion.
Wake will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 4:00 pm. Feast and Service will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the Long Plain Spirit Lodge beginning at 12:00 pm. The family asks for women to wear floor length skirts. Also, flowers and plants are gratefully declined.
