Sheila played basketball through her high-school years, and while attending Brandon University.  She was a member of Portage Association of Basketball Officials (PABO) and remained active in the association over the past several years.  She was one of the first females in Manitoba to obtain her officiating certificate in basketball. Sheila enjoyed all sports especially golf, curling, basketball and volleyball which she coached and refereed. She particularly loved watching hockey and curling. She had a great love of animals especially dogs.

Sheila married the love of her life and soulmate, Rick on October 9, 1982.  They made their first home in Portage la Prairie, and later moved to Delta Beach where they built their dream home. Sheila loved living at Delta close to the beach and the water where she and Rick would spend time boating and fishing on the lake.

Sheila loved to travel and treasured their times spent together on vacations in Mexico as well as the numerous cruises she and Rick took together.

One of Sheila’s hobbies was decorating, which is very evident in every room of their home. She always looked forward to the spring when she could move her decorating skills outside to plant her flowers and care for her yard. She was an excellent cook and homemaker.

Christmas was one of Sheila’s favourite times of year; she spent a lot of time decorating their home and always had such a beautifully decorated tree.  She enjoyed Christmas gatherings and spending time with family.  Her family often called her Shim, which was a nickname her Dad gave her.

Sheila was loved by many as her friendly nature and willingness to see the good in everyone was a quality that all admired.  She loved to laugh and enjoyed the company of her family and friends. Sheila’s kind and caring nature carried her through to the end.
