With her family by her side, Sumanben Patel passed away on September 6, 2026, at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 69 years.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Jayantibhai Patel of Portage la Prairie; children Rajesh (Komal) Patel of Portage la Prairie, Punita (Mitesh) Patel of Gujarat, India, Sunil (Maya) Patel of Gujarat, India; grandchildren Vatsal Patel; child of Rajesh, Nishwa Patel; child of Punita and Dhruvisha Patel; child of Sunil Patel; siblings Harshadbhai (Kokilaben) Patel of Gujarat, India, Vinodbhai (Sarojben) Patel of New Jersey, USA, Mahendrabhai (Rahshmiben) Patel, Chandrikaben (Govindbhai) Patel, Jayshreeben (Vinodbhai) Patel, all of Gujarat, India.

She was predeceased by her parents Parsottamdas & Jashodaben Patel of Gujarat, India; sibling Kiritbhai (Meenaben) Patel and in-laws Becharbhai & Kashibaa Patel.

Sumanben was truly one of a kind. She had a beautiful way of making everyone feel loved, welcomed and accepted. Her heart was always open to everybody, and she never held grudges, choosing kindness, forgiveness and peace instead.

Family was at the center of her world. She shared a close bond with her brothers and sisters and was a devoted mother to her three children, whom she raised with love, generosity and strength.

Sumanben found joy in cooking and preparing delicious food for those she loved. She had a special love for rice in all its forms and Gujarati movies, especially those featuring Vikram Thakor, Firoz Irani and Hiten Kumar. Her hilarious commentary, particularly during action scenes, brought laughter to everyone around her.

Even during difficult times, Sumanben continued to smile, joke, and make others feel better. Her warmth, humour and caring nature brought light to the lives of everyone who knew her.

She will be remembered through the food she loved, the laughter and memories created, and her enjoyment of Gujarati movies. Her smile and kindness will never be forgotten. Sumanben was deeply loved and impossible to replace, and her memory will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

A time of visitation and prayers will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel at 9:00 am, followed by Agni Sanskar.
