Thelma Jean Smoke-Martin was born on May 6, 1959 to proud parents Rowena McIvor (nee Smoke) and Samuel Myran, she was the baby out of the five children.  The family lived in Long Plain First Nation for a short time and then moved to Dakota Plains Wahpeton Oyate at young age.  This is where she lived for many years.  Later on in life she met the love of her life Philip Martin, they raised three children together and later married in 1993.  They had six grandsons and seven granddaughters who she loved with all her heart.  She would light up whenever she was around her grandchildren, they all held a special place in her heart along with her great granddaughter.  She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and cherished all of her family.

Thema Jean Smoke Martin enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, travelling, and visiting family and friends.  She always made sure to say Hi and got along with most people.  She was a very happy person, loving, caring and loved joking around.  She will be missed by many, all who got to know her and loved her.

Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end, it simply means “I’ll miss you, Until we meet again.”
