Thérèse Marie Antoinette Lavallee

Thérèse Lavallee passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026 at the Grace Hospital with family by her side. She was three weeks away from her 99th birthday.

Predeceased by her husband Ernest Lavallee, brothers Arthur and Steve, sisters Loudovine, Millie, Tina and Lucia. She will be deeply missed by her son Martin (Doris), and their children Brett and Eryn, and grandchildren Bailey and Brody; daughter Sheila (Doug), and their children Mark (Jackie), Tina, Brehanna, and Tess, along with grandchildren Jessica (Derek), Daniella, Dallas and Austin and great granddaughters Madison and Avelin; daughter Lori (Roberta); son Daniel (Cheryl) and their children Ashley and Terilyn (Mitchell) and the first great grandson Will; and beloved extended family member Doreen. There are many nieces and nephews and community members, from far and wide, who will also miss her.

Thérèse was born on May 8, 1927 daughter of Perrier and Beatrice Lavallee of St. Ambroise where she was raised and received her education. She helped out at home assisting her father taking care of her ailing mother, keeping the family home and garden while also boarding local teachers. In 1947, she married Ernest Lavallee and they made their home in St. Ambroise where they raised their two sons and two daughters.

Thérèse’s passion was cooking. Besides her unforgettable family meals, always with room for one more at the table, she managed the kitchen and meals at both St. Ambroise Hunting Lodge and Crooked Creek Lodge for many years. She prepared the menus, cooked the food, and oversaw the servers.

Mom and Dad eventually became owners of the St. Ambroise Hunting Lodge. In addition, Mom owned and ran the local general store, while Dad worked as Park Supervisor at St. Ambroise Provincial Park.

Thérèse was a dedicated member of St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church, and an active community member helping out with picnics and sporting events. She also volunteered at the Herman Prior Centre in Portage la Prairie as time allowed.

Special thanks to Sturgeon Creek I, where Mom happily resided for the last 15 years and the team on Third Floor Medical at the Grace Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ambroise Catholic Church on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at the St. Ambroise Cemetery immediately following the service.

As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made in Thérèse’s memory to St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church.
