He is remembered by his grandchildren, Robbie Human, Chantal (Levi) Froese, Hope Human and Brooke Skaftfeld. Left to mourn are his sisters, Joanne Smith of Moose Jaw, SK, Audrey (Marvin) Gray of Bagot, Arlene (Bob) Kuzmik of Winnipeg, Jean (Ray) Van Der Mark of Comox, BC, Marie (Ed Gray) Pugh of Bagot. Bill is also remembered by Jane’s family, Marilyn (Barry) Strilec, Gerry (Yvonne) Caister, Linda (Leonard) Duchnycz, John (Janice) Caister, Wes Caister, Dana (Doug) McArthur, Bruce Caister and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bill was predeceased by his parents Morley and Amelia (Bradshaw) Human, Jane’s parents Cecil and Ruth Caister, nephew Tyler Gray, in-laws Barry Pugh, Frank Smith, Jackie Caister and Moneca Remillard.
In his early years, Bill’s family lived at Poplar Point, where he and his best friend (Gord Smith) started school together. Later the family moved to the Gainsborough District. Leaving school Bill had several jobs – working at Portage Garage, Smith Motors, driving truck for Ed Humiski, Mulder Bros Market Gardening and carpentry. After he and Jane’s marriage in 1969 and the birth of their two children, Bill attended Red River College where he earned his Journeyman Carpentry Certificate. Later he was hired by the City of Portage la Prairie as building inspector, a position he held for 24 years.
Bill was stubborn, fun loving, friendly and outgoing. He belonged to service clubs – Elks, Masons and Shriners. He played hockey for many years as a goaltender. He also played ball, broom ball and golfed. He and a group of good friends had their own championship golf game and wind up every year. He hunted and loved to fish – fly in fishing trips and out of the way locations were his favourite. With all of this, he had time for his family. We camped, took road trips and travelled.
We loved you yesterday
We love you still
We always have
We always will.
