Anne Nicholls

After a long battle with cancer, Anne Nicholls passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Portage District General Hospital at the age of 65 years.

She was predeceased by father James 1985, mother Mary 1996, brother David 2010 and sister-in-law Penny 1989.  Left to mourn Anne’s passing are husband of 37 years Clarence of Oakville, daughter Krystal of Langruth, son Riley and grandsons Matthew and Nathan of Portage, brother James (Brenda) Forbes of Ottawa and niece  Amanda (Chris) McNally and their children Jacob and Penny,  nephew  Benjamin (Jill) and their children William, Gabriella, and Brooklyn all of Vancouver; nephew Scott (Leanne) Forbes and their children Cade and Corrie of Colorado; sister-in-law Jacquie Forbes of Portage, nephew Jason (Tanya) Forbes and their daughter Ava of Calgary, and niece Tamara Forbes (Kori) of Langruth; along with extended family and friends.

Anne was born on June 2, 1955 in Aberdeen, Scotland, she was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Her family immigrated to Canada in November, 1957.  Making Portage la Prairie her home, the place where she grew up and received education.  Anne graduated from PCI in June of 1973 and then went on to graduate from the Portage Business College in September of 1974.  Anne’s family was very important to her, she was able to be at the hospital when her two precious grandson, Mathew and Nathan were born.  They will always hold a special place in Grandma’s heart.  She was very proud of her children and all the their achievements throughout their lives.  Anne was grateful for all the friends she got to know of the years.  She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery led by Judy Shirtliff.  The graveside service was recorded and is viewable at the bottom of this page.
