Barrie Edward Braden

March 14, 1938 ~ October 23, 2021 (age 83)

With family by his side Barrie Braden passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 83 years.

Left to cherish Barrie’s memory are his wife Beverley of 63 years; daughters Heather (Kurt) Dick and Sandra Braden (Jackie Cole); grandchildren Travis and Melissa Dick; great-granddaughter Peyton; brother Dale (Karen) Braden; along with nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his son David, daughter Sherri and parents Robert and Frances Braden.

Barrie was a farmer all of his life, which he took great pride in.  In his spare time he was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved camping, reading and travelling.  He also enjoyed spending time at Delta.  Over the years he was involved with many community initiatives, while spending time with organizations like the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Whitemud Watershed and a director at Portage Mutual Insurance for 27 years.  Barrie was kind, quiet and a true gentleman, he also had a great sense of humour and had a quick wit with others.  He will be dearly missed by all those who got to know him over the years.

As per his wishes, Barrie’s life will be celebrated privately.

In lieu of flowers, please offer an act of kindness in memory of Barrie or donations can be made in his memory to the marina at Delta to the Portage & District Boat Launch Group, c/o RM of Portage la Prairie, 35 Tupper Street S Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1W7.
