Betty Dufoe

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Dufoe on Saturday, January 16, 2021 with her husband Gordon at her side in the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 74 years.

She was the forth child born to Douglas and Jenny Cooper of Amaranth.  She was predeceased by her parents and brother Kelvin.

She will be sorely missed by her husband Gordon and two sons Christopher and Michael, and their families in Calgary, Alberta.  Also grieving her loss are her sister Gail Johnson (Roger) of Calgary, sister-in-law Marlene Cooper of Medford, New Jersey and brother Cleve of Okotoks.  Betty is also survived by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty graduated from the nursing program at the MDC in Portage in 1967. She worked a full career there and retired in 2001.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1:00 pm, led by Wilma Shirriff. Interment will follow at the Lakeland Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society, 185 Sherbrooke St. Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 2B7 or a charity of your choice.
