Gail Goudreau

November 28, 1955 — May 2, 2021

Peacefully, with her family at her side, Gail Goudreau passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at her home.

Left to cherish her memory are her Foster Mom Irene Bélanger, Foster Sisters Judi Bélanger and Victoria (Ken) Bélanger Dick and nephews Alex and Max Bélanger. She was predeceased by her parents Victor and Dorothy Goudreau, sister Betty Goudreau and extended family.

Gail was welcomed into her new family home in 1991. She became a much loved family member who spread joy and laughter to all she engaged with. Gail was exceedingly kind, thoughtful and compassionate.

She was employed at A.R.C. Industries for many years and had a close bond with the staff and her peers. She did not like to “miss” a day!

Gail had many enjoyable experiences with the activity center Tron and they were very accommodating and kind, sometimes driving her home after events.

Gail liked to sew, do arts and crafts, puzzles and adding to her stuffed animal collection. She liked parties, dancing, all celebrations; especially birthdays. Her nephews Max and Alex would spend many hours colouring with her when they came to visit from Winnipeg.

My mother Irene, a.k.a “Mother Cupboard” as Gail used to say, and myself will think of Gail every day, in every way, knowing she is with her Lord Jesus in His loving arms.

We wish to thank Dr. Kinnear for all his TLC, the palliative care nurses, the home care nurses and health care aides who never missed a day caring for Gail. A special thank you to Donna Unrau, whose compassion and care is boundless. Thank you to friends and family for their phone calls, visits and constant support. Thank you all for gifts, flowers, meals and cards that delighted Gail. We thank you for your prayers that strengthened us through this difficult period. God bless you.

Viewing and slideshow will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Internment will take place at Evergreen Memorial Gardens at a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Gail’s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
