Kenneth "Kenny" Faurschou

July 14, 1960 — March 17, 2022

It is with profound sadness we acknowledge the sudden and unexpected passing of Kenneth “Kenny” Faurschou on March 17, 2022 at the age of 61 years. Born in Portage la Prairie, MB to Ralph and Ella Faurschou on July 14, 1960 and raised on the family farm west of Portage la Prairie, MB.

Kenneth was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Ella (nee Balko) Faurschou and great-nephew Beau Luptak. Left to mourn Kenneth’s passing are his sons Devin and Draedyn and their mother Karen, special friend Dolly and her family, brothers David (Lori), Dale (Karen) and Glenn (Stacy), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and cousins and all who were fortunate to have known him.

Kenneth’s formal education was received at Burnside and Yellowquill schools in his younger years. He later graduated from Portage Collegiate Institute, but his true passion for learning was in how to operate every truck, tractor and piece of farm equipment to perfection. He took immense pride in keeping everything in pristine condition. Countless hours were dedicated to a lifetime of pedigreed seed production. Every blade of grass was mowed, cleaning and treating of seed were all signature traits of Kenneth. Everyone who worked or relaxed with Kenneth enjoyed his easy going nature and his jovial manner, which made him so much fun to be around.

Kenneth’s passion for life away from the farm involved motorcycles, snowmobiles and cars, especially his 1974 Corvette Stingray. Fond memories were made during his travels to Mexico with friends, to the Maritimes with family and to Florida with his sons, which he often spoke of happily. Early in his life, he devoted himself to St. Mary’s la Prairie Anglican Church, and could be found not only actively participating in Sunday services, but also volunteering with maintenance of the church. Building his family’s home was a genuine source of pride.

Although Kenneth faced many challenges in his farming career, he always remained optimistic, and was very much looking forward to retirement in the not so distant future. A future without the worry of weather or finances, a future to be enjoyed with family and friends.  Until we meet again… we will remain feeling extremely blessed with joyous memories of you.

To my older brother –

I am so blessed to have had you by my side almost my whole life (although I could have used some notice on the football coming at my face). From the fun we had playing hide and seek on our snowmobiles while we looked after the grain cleaners, to the special wave we shared. Oh the work we did together! Countless bins shoveled out and the endless rows of 100 lb. grain bags handled and loaded out. Thank you for always lifting the bottom ones. The endless hours spent in the fields doing what we loved, and some not so much (irrigation). But you always did what need doing and more. You left us too soon. I miss you dearly. Until I see you again, dear brother…

Love, Glenn
