It is with saddened hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Kevin Hudyma, beloved son, brother and uncle on Saturday, October 30, 2021 in Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 51 years.

Kevin will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his mother Elaine Hudyma; sisters Shelley Smith (Jason), Sheri Kucharsky (Ken), Sandy Chappellaz (Richard); nieces and nephews Michael, Stephanie, Lyle, Tyler, Ashley and Brett; and great nieces and great nephew.  He is predeceased by his father  Edward Hudyma; sister Lillian Anne and his grandparents.

Kevin was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He faced many challenges throughout his life that he learned to overcome.  Kevin was a kind and gentle person with a big heart. He was liked by all who knew him. Kevin will always be remembered for his quirky sense of humor, his contagious laugh and his unique personality.  Kevin tremendously enjoyed listening to his music on his walk-man radio (and his endless need for new headphones). Kevin had an uncanny ability to remember everyone's phone numbers and if he remembered yours, you would know it as he would call you a countless number of times a day.  He was always bartering with others for his cigarettes as he had his own special way to get what he wanted. He loved spending time with his family, drinking slurpees and cold coffee.   He enjoyed going on outings with his family and staff and especially loved spending time and visiting his mother (his best friend).

Kevin had many staff that loved and cherished him, and provided above and beyond care for him. The family would like to thank his home care workers, his community workers, his group home staff (Vision of Independence & ACL), the doctors and anyone that was involved in Kevin's life who provided support and care to Kevin over the years.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Kevin’s memory to Canadian Mental Health Association – Central Region, 102 - 1st Street NW, Portage la Prairie, MB, R1N 1Y9 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 1379 Kenaston Boulevard Winnipeg, MB R3P 2T5.
