Ronald Wilson

November 27, 1945 — May 20, 2021

We regret to announce the passing of Ronald “Ron” Wilson on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at the Gladstone Health Centre at the age of 75 years.

He was predeceased by his wife Beverly Wilson (Gibson) and his parents James and Leona Wilson.  Ron will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Leona (Rob) Farris of Edmonton and Rona Wilson of Edmonton, grandkids Tyler, Matthew and Alexander along with his honorary granddaughter Serena who lovingly called him "crazy Uncle Ron". Ron will also be missed by his siblings Arlene Stevenson of Chester Springs, PA, Lonnie Cumby (Ray) of Dartmouth, Kerry Wilson (Kate) of Gimli and April Krastel (Garth) of Macdonald, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ron was born on November 27, 1945 in Thunder Bay, ON, but grew up in Portage where he attended school.  He was a Carnie and he travelled all over Canada and the USA, where he met very many well-known entertainers. He also worked for Hudson Bay Co., Benson and Hedges and ran his own store in Brandon called This is it.   In 1967 he married the love of his life Beverly Wilson (Gibson) and over the years they lived in Brandon, MB, Cobble Hill, BC and moved back to Portage in 2007 to spend the rest of their years together.

Ron was a happy go lucky guy. He would do anything for you and always wanted to make you laugh. Ron could string a story a mile long and always had a joke to tell, this was from his days when he worked as a carnie. He could sell underwear to a nudist. He wanted everyone to be happy. Ron always had little gadgets to make life simpler and words of wisdom.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral services will be held.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to Central Plains Cancer Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave. E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8
